Are Fragrances Affecting Your Health? Why You Should Switch To Essential Oils

Skincare Secrets: Episode 8
Fragrances are NOT the same as essential oils and fragrances may be impacting your health. 🌿Essential oils are natural scents made from pressed plants.🧪Fragrances are artificial scents made in a lab from synthetic chemicals.
Fragrances contain phthalates, endocrine-disrupting chemicals linked to a host of illnesses including cancer. Sources 1, 2, 3, 4. Essential oils do not contain phthalates or any other synthetic chemicals. To safeguard your health, it's recommended that you use skin care products that are fragrance-free. This is especially important for people with dry skin, sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea because fragrances are the #1 trigger of skin allergies and skin reactions. Source 1, 2.
Read ingredient labels. Avoid products with "fragrance", "perfume", or "parfum" because those terms all mean the same thing. And remember, there is no such thing as "natural fragrance". ALL fragrances are synthetic.
Beware of "greenwashing", when companies attempt to deceive consumers into thinking that their products are safe and eco-friendly by using terms like "natural fragrance." There is nothing natural about any fragrance. Seek out products that are scented with organic essential oils. If you have eczema, dry skin, or sensitive skin, seek out unscented products.
