Our Story

S.M.O.C. Skincare was born out of the founder’s desire for a soap to soothe his very dry, extra sensitive skin and eczema. After years of dermatology visits and trying dozens of different products without success, he knew what he had to do.

Using his extensive research experience, he embarked on a quest to learn everything there is to know about soap. Then he set out to make soap, but not just any soap—a soap that moisturized and nourished the skin while cleansing, and that was completely free of chemical additives.

A passionate environmentalist, he also wanted soap that was free of palm oil and certified organic, not just ”natural.” Working with a world-renowned expert soap maker and a chemistry professor, it took two years of testing and refining, but 77 test batches later, Kal knew he had a soap unlike any other on earth.

After two years and 77 test batches, we finally had a soap that was:

We protect your health by what we leave OUT of our products. They contain no added colors, fragrances, phthalates, detergents, or synthetic moisturizers. No chemical additives of any kind. We are certified organic which means fewer toxic pesticides and herbicides in our soil, water supply, and communities.

Sustainability

We believe that environmental stewardship is part of our duty as a company. We use only certified organic ingredients and recycled paper packaging (no plastic). We use no palm oil. Our products are 100% vegan. We are members of 1% for the Planet, meaning we donate 1% of our annual revenues to environmental charities.

Transparency

Unlike many competitors, we never greenwash (pretend to be sustainable while selling ordinary products). We are a sustainable company from top to bottom. We never hide our ingredient lists. Our organic certification is printed on our boxes, as required.
